Dear Margaret and Bill,
Thank you for following our wake on the map, for the news and for your kind words. You might remember that L'Envol was leaving Australia to sail to Japan and wonder what happened - did we get the compass bearing wrong, how come we are in South Africa now? Instinct or impulse, I still cannot point out exactly what it was that drove us to take on the Indian Ocean rather than the North Pacific. However, the exact moment of that change of minds has been materialised on the map - it's the northern most point of our track in Indonesia, just south of Ambon. Then and there Christophe simply knew - it was time to close the circle around the world rather than go eat sushi in the Land of the Rising Sun. The Indian Ocean gave us fast sailing in boisterous seas, memorable moments on the Mascarene Islands of Rodrigues, Mauritius and Reunion and some incredible encounters with kindred spirits here in South Africa. Every time we think we've done the most difficult, another challenge awaits around the corner. The weather windows are short and intense, the south-bound Agulhas current running 5 knots along the coast is a "free ride" but can build up seas in heavy winds. Have we made the right choice to wait another day here in Durban? We will find out as we set sail tomorrow with destination East London in mind. Love from us both, Carina and Christophe

Salut Bruce,
